Russia is the largest country on earth, with enormous tracts of land that have been opened to travellers only in the last few years. One of the most notable features of present day Russia is a renewed celebration of the wealth of its past and its potential for the future. Throwing off the blanket of communist uniformity, Russia today is a nation of enormous diversity and tremendous vitality. It is as if the cultural traditions of a century ago have re-awakened with a newfound strength - ancient cathedrals are being rebuilt and restored, colorful markets hum with activity once again and literature and the arts are quickly regaining the creative renown they enjoyed decades ago. Just as Russia's rich cultural heritage has once more come to life, its natural heritage too is a new country waiting to be discovered.

My trip to Russia was a mixture of uncertainty and surprises. Travel time was physically challenging because it's such a huge country! I had to take 3 planes and a bullet train to get there and back. Quite an amazing experience but mostly substantial and very fulfilling. Our shows were a big success, I performed with 2 Russian local big bands and New York based pianist Alex Nakimovsky's trio. Mike Stern band, Jimmy Green also main performers at the festivals. I feel so happy and blessed I could have the opportunity to share my music in that almost unknown part yet the biggest country in the world!

It was just amazing to see how the Russians thrive!! They are swinging and keeping up with the times!
